I lost track of the days weeks ago. I look at my phone several times a day now just for a time check. I need the constant reminder that time is moving forward. Are you checking your clocks more than usual? Hovering a little cursor over the date display on your computer?

Time is not alluding us because it’s slipping away. It’s confusing us because we are still. Time doesn’t change in property. It’s as constant as the sun rising and setting. It doesn’t actually speed up or slow down yet, we want to blame time as we wait.
It feels like we are all collectively in the waiting room of life. It can feel heavy and slow. Unfair even. I believe we can leverage this time to our advantage. How do we wait something out well? How can we change the narrative in our own circumstances?
We start with permission. Permission to be still. Permission to wait and rest. I’m not suggesting to sleep for the next several weeks. I’m suggesting to wait actively. To lay down what stresses you out, and pick up activities that bring peacefulness to your soul. Even joy can be found in the still hours of waiting.
Waiting isn’t passive. In fact the word is both a noun (waiting) and a verb (the action of waiting).
What can you give yourself permission to lay down? If you’re unsure, follow the negative thoughts that occupy real-estate in your brain. The one’s that play like a broken record. The thoughts making you feel unproductive. Like time was wasted on nothing being accomplished. Don’t get me wrong here, goals are great to accomplish; but not if they are stealing peace or joy from your life. Not if they are producing self hatred. If that’s where your negative narrative takes you to, then maybe you need to evaluate the source of pressure on those goals.
Maybe it’s ok to dream a little longer about those goals before beating yourself up for not accomplishing them. I trust you’ll sift through the difference between the motivational fire that sometimes needs lit versus the guilt and shame that tells you you’re no good for not having accomplished them yet.
When you discover what these stress points are, give yourself permission to stop stressing over them. Lay them down and strop striving over them. It’s ok, I give you permission.
These are just some musing thoughts as time passes.
