What is getting a rise out of you these days? What emotions are loud in the stillness and the waiting? Does the news that causes unrest in you? Do tears well up or your blood pressure rise over violent acts of injustice? Maybe there are unresolved issues from the past rearing up. You’re not alone.
We’re finally being still enough for long enough to deal with what needs dealt with.

I once heard a man say, “Emotions are great helpers, but they make terrible masters”. Let’s pay attention to our emotions not to be overwhelmed by them, but to embrace them for what they are. Let’s allow our emotions to lead us in the places we need to face with courage.
Our emotions are not the issue, but how we respond to them can be a problem. The emotion itself isn’t the problem, but if you’re willing to start healing, follow it to the root. The root of what’s causing emotional upheaval is the actual issue.
Our emotions are indicators to tell us there’s something going on.
Sometimes an emotion can appear negative, but can actually help connect us to our passions. For years I have heard “Christians” say our emotions are bad. Misleading. Some will even say wicked, but I don’t believe that’s true.
Negative emotions are like a caution flag thrown on a football field, or a blinking road sign cautioning construction work ahead. Emotions are expressions of our humanity, and maybe even our divinity. Please allow me to explain.
God has emotions (NUM 22:22 God is angry, COL 1:19 God was pleased, 1 JON 14:19 God loves). We are made in the likeness & image of God (Gen 1:26-27). We have traits and characteristics of our Heavenly Father in the same way we get our hair eye color or skin tone from our parents. If God has emotions, why do we look at our emotions as weaknesses or shortcomings?
It’s time to cast out lies about our emotions & replace them with truths!
We have been given this time to rest. To heal. To walk away from this season stronger & better than how we entered. I bless you with the courage to chase down negative emotions to their roots. Don’t be overcome by these emotions, be more than an overcomer over them! Heal. Be set free, then go help someone else heal and get set free.
You may not find pain that needs healing, but you may find pain that leads you to righteous anger. A passion. A call to action to be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. You may even find your purpose if you’re brave enough to stare your emotion in the eye. Whichever the case may be, I bless you on your path.
